A couple of things...

So first, I have no new reviews for today. I know, sad. I am reading Envy by Anna Godbersen right now and it's taking me a little longer than planned to get through it. I'm not saying that it's bad, though, I've just had more going on than usual. Actually, so far it's really great. This series was one that my friend told me that I needed to read and as soon as I read the first book, I was hooked so I'm really glad that this one is finally out and I get to read it. Okay so onto the next thing. I am going to try to hold a contest soon but I don't quite know what books yet. I also don't really know how to hold a contest but I'm going to steal a few ideas from some other blogs and go from there. So if anybody has any tips, I am completely up for any thing you might say. Okay well nothing else really new going on. I am going to be getting a few new books to read, hopefully, soon and will post my reviews as soon as I finish.

Okay this book definitely sounds like one I will have to read and I absolutely love the cover. I can't wait for this one to come out.

Do-Over

Book: Do-Over by Niki Burnham
Rating: 3.5 Stars
Summary:

When it comes to love, how many chances do you get?Girl meets prince. Girl looses prince. Girl gets prince back -- right? Well, that's what Valerie is hoping. She's back in Schwerinborg after spending some time with her mother in the good ol' US of A, and hopes that sparks are still flying between her and Georg. At first it looks like things are going great, until a ski trip to the Alps has Val and Georg's romance hitting some moguls. Could Val's love life be heading for a face-plant?

Overall: In my opinion, this was one of the better books in the Simon Pulse ro-com series. I think that Niki Burnham is one of the best authors in this series. I felt like maybe I could relate to these characters more than some of the others. I really liked Valerie and her friends. They seemed really funny and more like actual people than some other characters in books. The one thing that I didn't really like, though, was how perfect Georg seemed. It was like Valerie was the only one in the relationship with flaws. It may make the book more like a fairytale but it isn't realistic that he would be that fine with anything that Valerie may have done to mess up their relationship. There wasn't a whole lot of plot to this book but it was still a really cute, easy read.

Wake

Book: Wake by Lisa McMann

Summary:

She can't tell anybody about what she does -- they'd never believe her, or worse, they'd think she's a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn't want and can't control.

Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else's twisted psyche. She is a participant....

Overall: I read this book in about three hours. I started it and could not put it down until the absolute last page. Janie is definitely not your average girl but I have to say that I wouldn't necessarily mind trading places with her if it meant that I got to meet Cabel. He is probably my favorite character in the book, even though there are parts where I want to slap him.
At first, I admit to being a little confused about what was going on in all the flashbacks but everything cleared up for me once we got to the present. It all begins when Janie is eight years old and falls into her first dream. After that she doesn't seem to be able to stop herself from being sucked into dreams and is barely able to pull herself out once she is in. Normally the dreams that she is pulled into are just embarrassing or very revealing but everything starts to get really crazy when she is pulled into a violent dream that makes her very scared. What she doesn't find out until later is that the dream that she is so afraid of is Cabel's and she doesn't find this out until she is already fully entangled with Cabel. There are so many parts of this book where Cabel seems like the nicest guy a girl could want and then there are the times that you want to rage at him. While Janie and Cabel are definitely the main characters there are other smaller characters that play important roles such as Carrie, Stu, Shay, the Captain, and a couple others. They all seem to have special roles in the book but they aren't very developed yet and I am hoping that they will be enhanced a little bit in the next book, Fade. I'm not going to give away the whole plot here so if you want to know what happens then you will have to read the book and I would definitely recommend it.

When It Happens

Book: When It Happens by Susane Colasanti

Sara's other goal is to find true love, so when Dave, a popular jock, asks her out, she's thrilled. But then there's Tobey. His amazing blue eyes and quirky wit always creep into her thoughts. It just so happens that one of Tobey's goals is also to make Sara fall in love with him. Told in alternating points of view, Sara and Tobey's real connection will have everyone rooting for them from the minute they meet!

Overall: When It Happens is such a great book. It tells such a true story of love in high school. I loved the two main characters Tobey and Sara. They are both seniors in high school and the total opposite of each other. Sara is an overachiever and Tobey a slacker musician. The cool thing about this book that really separates it from other teen romance books is that each chapter is told in either Tobey's or Sara's perspectives so you get inside both characters hearts and minds. This is Susane Colasanti's debut novel and I cannot wait to read her next two books "Take Me There" and "Waiting For You." I recommend these books for anybody who is a fan of Sarah Dessen and really just anybody.

Okay so I have seen this feature on a couple different blogs and thought that maybe I would give it a try. Technically, I didn't get any books in my mailbox from reviewers or anything because I am still new to this reviewing thing but I am trying. I did go to Barnes and Noble, though, and here is what I got.

Last Christmas

Overall: Last Christmas was probably one of the best books I read in 2008. This book was a little creepy at times because Kate Brian kind of puts you into the mind of a cold-blooded killer, namely Ariana Osgood. It also gives you a little bit of background about Ariana, but not enough to really understand why she becomes a murderer. If you have read the Private series, this book is full of revelations about some of Ariana's actions in those books. You don't necessarily need to read the Private series before this but it does help a little bit to know what happens after this story. I would definitely recommend this book to anybody who likes mystery, romance, and a little murder.

Love Undercover

Book: Love Undercover by Jo Edwards
Rating: 2.5 stars
Summary: True love needs no disguise.

Kaitlyn Nichols craves a little mystery and mayhem in her life. Having a secret agent for a father should do the trick, but unfortunately Dad is no 007, and danger is nowhere on the horizon.

But all that changes when Mr. Nichols brings home Blaine, a seventeen-year-old hottie who's about to enter the Witness Protection Program. Suddenly Kaitlyn's in the perilous position of protecting the cutest guy she's ever met!

When Dad enrolls Blaine in her high school, it's up to Kait to detect the girls who want him...and the guys who want him dead. Meanwhile, Kait's about to discover that there's one little thing she can't protect -- her heart.

Overall: Love Undercover was a fun and easy read. The main charcters Kaitlyn and Blaine/Gordon were cute but still a little cliche. Nothing new really happened in this book. The two main character overcame whatever obstacles stood in their way and ended up happily ever after. The ending was definitely predictable and there wasn't really any mystery in this book. I wouldn't really recommend this book unless you are really bored and have nothin better to do.
